Caboolture Airfield is to host The Australian Vintage Aviation Society’s TAVAS Great Vintage Flyin once more!
On all accounts, the event was well organised with a great variety of airframes, both static and flying.
Highlights of the day included witnessing flights of the P-51 Mustang, a triplet of T-28 Trojans flypast in formation, a Fokker D VIII fly a tight display and the Bristol F.2B and Fokker DR.1 go hard at it in mock air to air combat!
One of my commercial flight instructors flew to the event, piloting his T-28A Trojan (the only flying of it’s type in the Southern Hemisphere), in formation with two other T-28’s, also from the Toowoomba Airfield.
Apart from the sunburn, the weather was beautiful with a slight sou-easterly blowing, commanding arrivals and departures be conducted from runway 12.
